17 US Terrorist Attacks On Pakistan Since September - Media Applauds
Jyoti Mishra
One of the issues most vexing to Pakistan is the ongoing missile strikes by US unmanned Predator drones, or UAVs, into Pakistan’s tribal areas. Since 1 September, there have been at least 17 of these strikes and, while US officials say al-Qaeda leaders are being successfully targeted, local tribesmen say scores of civilians have been killed. (Source: BBC News). Look at the picture at the top of this post, taken from the article I quote above. Notice anything strange about it? It shows the result of illegal US bombing of Pakistan, via robot drones. It shows one of many building destroyed in 17 separate such terrorist attacks. And the words under the picture read:"Damage to civilian life and property is making Pakistan’s leaders uneasy".Now, imagine a picture of the 7/7 London bombings. Visualise the carnage and imagine a subtitle saying, "Damage to civilian life and property is making Britain’s leaders uneasy."...

Saber Al-Hissie comes from a Gazan family of fishermen. His 20 metre vessel belongs to his father, who, after many years of fishing, has finally passed the family business over to Saber....

One year after Annapolis
Hasan Abu Nimah, The Electronic Intifada
It seems like another age, but it was only one year ago that United States President George W. Bush and his administration were preparing to bring Israelis and Palestinians together to launch a final push for a peace settlement. The resulting conference in Annapolis, Maryland, was attended by officials from dozens of countries, the United Nations, the Arab League, the European Union, the Quartet and the Organization of the Islamic Conference, among many others. Only the democratically elected representatives of the Palestinian people under occupation, besieged in Gaza, were not invited...

Elect a president; massacre Palestinians. No change here.
DetainThis
What great timing for another U.S.-subsidized Israeli aggression against Palestinians. Brilliant and original, once again. The headline ratio between the U.S. elections and the Israeli invasion of Gaza must be at least 200–1....

Obama May Keep Some Bush Foreign Policies
Jason Ditz
...According to former Assistant Secretary of State Edward Walker, "the basic difference is going to be style." Obama’s campaign may have been based around a theme of multilateralism and diplomacy, but in practice the US policy from Russia and China to the Middle East are unlikely to see anything but the most superficial changes from the Bush Administration’s. Even in Iraq, which Obama made the centerpiece of his primary campaign, his position became increasingly indistinguishable from the current administration as time went on. He declared that "the surge succeeded beyond our wildest dreams," and he began predicating his pullout on recommendations from the military commanders. The chief of Iraq’s presidential cabinet too believes that "US policy will not change...
